A series of devastating earthquakes have hit southern Türkiye and north-west Syria killing over 47,000 people and leaving over 110,000 injured.
The first deadly earthquake struck while people were inside their homes, with no warning signs, still asleep in their beds. More than 54,000 buildings, including hospitals and schools, have been destroyed or damaged. Individuals have been left without shelter in freezing winter conditions presenting with it additional challenges to the survivors. They are desperately in of emergency shelters, hygiene products, food and clean water.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to all who have lost loved ones or have been affected by the earthquakes.
As a response to the tragedy Imece Women’s Centre will be providing 1-1 debriefing sessions and mental health support by our therapists for women, in the UK, with families and friends living in the areas affected by the earthquakes. We are here to provide a safe space to talk and share experiences surrounding the grief and loss of close family members and friends. Your donation could contribute towards our commitment to be there for every woman who needs mental health and one to one counselling support sessions.
Your donations could also help women and children in the area affected by the crisis as Imece Women Centre will be supporting Women’s Organisations that are working at the field, to scale up their responses, provide vital aid and reach more women and children survivors who have lost their homes, belongings, livelihoods and loved ones.
