IMECE’s Counselling Service creates a non-judgmental, confidential and secure environment for women 16+ to explore and process traumatic experiences caused by Violence Against Women and Girls  (VAWG) with an increased awareness of Harmful Practices such as Forced Marriage, so called “Honour” Based Violence.

Violence has a negative impact on women’s confidence and self-perception which can create a detrimental vicious cycle for mental health. Our counsellors are culturally sensitive and highly specialised in their areas in processing trauma, breaking the cycle and moving on to a fulfilling life created in our own right. Our team can offer a variety of therapeutic techniques such as EMDR, Focusing, Somatic Experience, CBT, Psychodynamic and Existential modalities.

All our counsellors are bilingual (English and Turkish).

Our entire counselling team is registered with BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by its ethical framework.

We offer;

  • 10 one-to-one counselling sessions for Turkish speaking VAWG survivors in London
  • 16-20 sessions for women primarily living in Islington, Enfield, Waltham Forest, Haringey and Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Barking& Dagenham, Barnet, and Lewisham.
