IDVA Services

Imece Women’s Centre’s BAME (Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic) specialist IDVA service provides a robust, multi-agency, intersectional and holistic approach to ensure survivors are able to access the relevant crisis intervention support needs to reduce the impact and risk of VAWG.

Our Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) offer information, advocacy and specialist services to increase safety and meet a range of needs – these can include (but not limited to) ongoing safety concerns, emotional or housing support, legal options, reporting to the police, help around child contact, benefits and financial advice.

Referrals into our Hackney IDVA service are made through the local authority MARAC processes.

At present, we are able to accept IDVA referrals for Islington and Haringey for survivors of VAWG and Harmful Practice. If you are a professional and believe that you have a service user who would benefit from language specific and/or BAME specialist IDVA support for Islington or Haringey resident survivors, please make sure you complete our IDVA service referral form and ensure you have taken the usual local authority MARAC referral pathways upon disclosure.
